Islamabad: Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid has said that the government is determined to purge the country of terrorism in all its manifestations particularly threats to journalism.
Speaking at a meeting of the Steering Committee of Pakistan Coalition on Media Safety in Islamabad today (Wednesday), he urged media to come on the same page with the government on terrorism issue.
He said consensus exists among all political parties on the eradication of terrorism.
The Information Minister said a vibrant media is vital for a strong political dispensation and democracy.
He said cases of slain journalists will be heard in the anti-terrorism courts, and special prosecutors will be appointed for this purpose.
