Islamabad: Top seed Aqeel Khan lift the Men’s Singles Title and Muhammad Mudassar annexed the Boy’s U-18 Singles title of the 1st Ch. Rehmat Ali Memorial PTF National Ranking Tennis Championships played at S.Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex, Garden Avenue, Islamabad.
Top seed Aqeel Khan was in excellent form and build up the winning lead 4-0 by breaking 1st and 3rd game of Jalil Khan. Jalil reduced the winning lead 3-4 by breaking 6th game of Aqeel Khan.
Aqeel won the first set at 6-3 by hitting two aces in the 5th game and break the 9th game of at score of 0-40 by hitting some winner down the line. In the 2nd set Jalil Khan took the lead 4-1 by breaking 3rd and 4th game of Aqeel Khan.
Aqeel level the score 4-4all by breaking the 6th and 8th game of Jalil and the set decided on the tie break which won by Aqeel Khan at 7-2. The match lasted 1 hrs and 10 minutes.
Aqeel Khan won the cash prize of Rs.35,000/- along with winning shield whereas Jalil Khan pocketed Rs.20,000/- as runner up.
Syed Nofil Kaleem won the first set at 6-1 by hitting number of winners down the lines by breaking 2nd, 4th and 6th game of Mudassar. Muhammad Mudassar changed the strategy in the second set and stated long rallies and won the second set in the same fashion by breaking 1, 3rd and 5th game of Nofil.
Mudassar was in full command in the final set and the score went up to 2-2 all at this stage Mudassar broke the service of Nofil by playing some good volleys and finally Mudassar won the set at 6-3 by breaking 5th game of Nofil.
The match lasted one hrs 35 minutes. Both the players displayed quality tennis. Mudassar got cash award of Rs.10,000/- while Nofil got Rs.5,000/- as runner up along with certificate and trophies.
Aqeel Khan & Jalil Khan won the Men’s Doubles title by beating Shahzad Khan & Yasir Khan in straight set 6-2 6-2 without any resistance. Aqeel & Jalil got Rs.16,000/- and Shahzad & Yasir pocketed Rs.10,000/- as runner up.
A total number of more than 50 players participated in three different events of Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles and Boy’s U-18 Singles, The tournament was organized in the memory of Late Ch. Rehmat Ali who was the grandfather of Ahmed Ch and founder of Ammar Group of Companies and keen sports lover.
A total amount of Rs.300,000/- were distributed as Prize Money and Daily Allowance. PTF provided free accommodation to all the out stationed players.
Barrister Mr. Zafarullah Khan, Secretary Law & Justice grace the occasion as Chief Guest and distributed the prizes amongst the winner and runner-ups, Ch. Muhammad Aslam son of Ch. Rehmat Ali and Senator Syed Dilawar Abbas Patron PTF also distributed shields amongst the winner and runner-ups. A large number of tennis fans witnessed the Men’s Singles Final.
