Islamabad: Pakistan Squash Federation PSF has arranged a long term training camp at the recently renovated Jansher Khan Squash Complex, Abbottabad. The camp would mainly focus on the physical fitness of the players for which Army’s help has also been sought. PSF National Head Coach, Mr Jamshed Gul Khan along with a couple of assistant coaches will impart court training to the players whereas, their physical training would be looked after by Army trainers.
Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force who is also the President Pakistan Squash Federation had directed in the Annual General Meeting of PSF that a training camp should be arranged for the top professional players to improve their physical fitness and squash training for the forthcoming International events in Pakistan and abroad, including the 17th Asian Individual Squash Championship and the World Men’s’ Team Championship.
A group of 16 players including some upcoming talent has been invited for the camp. They include the top professional players like Aamir Atlas, Farhan Mehboob, Nasir Iqbal, Danish Atlas and others. However, owing to their injuries, Atlas brothers have not yet reported at the camp.
The junior players include Ali Bukhari, Ammad Fareed, Tayyab Aslam and Bilal Zakir, who recently won Gold Medal in Korea during the Asian Junior Championship, 2013.
During the course of training, these players would also continue playing important National / PSA events in Pakistan and abroad, to further improve their national / world ranking.
It is expected that with rigorous training in the national camp, these players would improve their fitness level and would be able to produce better results in the coming international events.
