Karachi: Provincial Minister for Health Sindh Dr Sagheer Ahmed on Monday said measles vaccination campaign should be continued till the administration of vaccine to all children who are still deprived of vaccination despite the drive started from 19th May which ended on 31st May 2014.
He expressed these views at a measles drive review meeting held his office. He said main objective of launching the measles campaign in Sindh province to save children from fatal diseases, while efforts are under way to improve the routine immunization situation in province.
It was told in meeting that 13,812,287 children had been administrated measles vaccine in 29 districts of Sindh province. He said 4,424,671 were vaccinated in Karachi, 511,625 in Badin, 485,129 in Dadu, 553,744 in Ghotki,561,366 in Hyderabad, 312,973 in Jacobabad,269,070 in Jamshoro, 442,119 Qambar, 299,508 in Kashmore,723,983 in Khairpur, 494,365 in Larkana, 222,911in Matiari,448,247 in Mirpur Khas, 450,493 in Naushehro Feroze, 613,518 in Sanghar, 493,345 Shaheed Benazirabad , 392,964 in Shikarpur, 466,968 in Sukkur, 227,406 in Tando Allah Yar,405,229 in Tharparkar, 455,157 in Thatta, 218,020 in Tando Muhammad Khan and 339,476 in Umerkot district.
Health Minister urged the officers to ensure the availability of doctors and paramedical staff along with medicines in government hospitals and dispensaries. He vowed to continue efforts to provide basic health facilities to save children from fatal diseases and directed the officials to perform their duties in hardworking manner.
