667 drivers held for traffic violation

KARACHI: Traffic police Karachi have arrested 667 drivers on violating traffic rules and 19,659 vehicles were seized during last four months. Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Traffic Karachi Arif Hanif said that traffic police had charged Rs 162,590,500 fine with issuing 570,616 challans, while 2,966 passenger vehicles were seized due to sub-standard and dilapidated condition from January to April 2014.

He said that in all five zones of the city traffic police had challaned 47,900 motorcyclists for not using helmet and 2847 motorcycles were seized on traffic violation.

He further said that 3133 challan were issued against using pressure-horns, 5257 for overloading and 8070 challan for violation of parking rules.
