KARACHI: Paramilitary force Sindh Rangers and Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested 68 suspects during joint operation in separate targeted raids in Karachi: while a gang war accused was killed in Lyari here on Saturday.
According to spokesperson of Sindh Rangers: rangers conducted joint operation in Mehran Town: Natha Khan Goth: Jinnah Square Malir: Faqira Goth: Ghosia Colony: Yousaf Goth: Jahangirabad: Nazimabad No 2: Nawa Lane: Bhains Colony: Landhi: Quaidabad: Shah Latif Town: Korangi: Clifton: Baldia Town: Saeedabad and other areas.
He said that during operation seven criminals and anti-social elements including a target killer were arrested. While weapons including SMG: hand grenades: mixed ammo and large quantity of liquor bottles were also recovered from the possession of arrested accused: he said.
Meanwhile: police and the paramilitary force conducted a raid on a tipoff about presence of a criminal in Kalakot area of Lyari and killed a gangster in an exchange of fire.
The killed gangster identified as Arshad was affiliated with Sheraz Comrade Group of Lyari gang war: said police. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.
On the other hand: police carried out a search operation in Patel Para sealed entry and exit routes of the area and specific houses were searched. Several persons were taken into custody as well.
A raid was also conducted in a residential building at Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block No. 7 in which three people were arrested. Police stated that the arrested persons affiliated with Sohail Dada group were involved in serious criminal offences. Some weapons were recovered from their possession: said police.
