AIGP for road safety measures

KARACHI: Taking notice of the Korangi road accident in which two young friends died, Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Karachi Ghulam Qadir Thebo on Friday asked civil society in general and media in particular to assist Karachi police and traffic officials to educate road users about the road safety measures and precautions.

AIGP said that many accidents take place on daily basis in which precious human lives were being lost and people were getting injured at times to the level of disability.

Thebo suggested in general that parents must look at the status in which their youngsters ride bikes and drive cars. He said that untrained commercial and private persons drive recklessly putting others’ lives in danger as well as their own. He suggested to start wearing helmets immediately in order to avoid fatal accidents.

Thebo further offered to organize training programs for anyone interested in learning the defensive driving techniques. He asked police officials to contact corporate sector and commercial driver associations in order to restart awareness campaigns, training programs and interactive activities.
