Alvi demands Rs 15000 minimum wage

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader and member National Assembly Dr Arif Alvi on Sunday demanded of the government to increase minimum wage of labourers to Rs 15000 in new federal budget.

In a statement issued from PTI central media cell Karachi, the lawmaker said that during election campaign Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) had promised to raise minimum wage more than Rs 15000 but nothing had been done in this regard even after passage of one year.

He urged the government to also increase private sector employees’ salaries in the budget besides giving raise in the salaries of government workers.

Alvi said that government should extend tax net instead of increasing taxes and ensure imposing and recovering agriculture tax too.
