Karachi: An anti-polio vaccination campaign was postponed in District West of Karachi on Thursday over non-provision of security to polio teams. Health department sources said law enforcement agencies had withdrawn the security of polio vaccination campaign in last movement. Around 24,000 children have been deprived of vaccination due to postponement of drive. Rangers and police have stopped the polio teams from any kind of movement in these areas.
Executive District Officer Health Karachi Zafar Ejaz said the anti-polio drive had been rescheduled in five union councils of the city over security issues, while drive was being continued in rest of UCs as per schedule.
He informed that anti-polio drive would be started soon in these UCs after provision of proper security from law enforcement agencies.
