At least 3 killed in seminary blast

KARACHI: Three students were killed and four others injured in blast at their seminary located in the Metroville, SITE area of the city on Monday. Police claimed that seven students were injured in the blast. They were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment, where three of them Umar, 12, son of Shouqat; Salman, 11, son of Rahim Dil, and Zahid, 12, Nabi Dar, succumb to injuries. They said that Ismail, son of Bakhat Nawab; Zahid, son of Shahid; Shabir, son of Siddique, and Zaheer, son of Bashir, were injured.

Police said the bomb was not hurled from outside but it may be in someone’s possession inside the seminary.

Earlier, it was reported that unidentified criminals riding a motorcycle hurled a hand grenade at the seminary adjacent Tahiri Mosque located on Frontier Colony More, Metroville SITE area in the jurisdiction of the Moninabad Police Station, said police.

Police cordoned off the area after the incident and started investigation.
