Karachi: The speakers stressed the need of utilizing statistics research in medical education to control the prevalence diseases and improvement overall health system in Pakistan.
They expressed these views in concluding ceremony three-day 12th International Conference of Statistical Sciences at Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS).
The conference was organised by DUHS in collaboration with Islamic Countries Society of Statistical Sciences (ISOSS), Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan, University of Karachi (KU), Federal Urdu University of Arts, Sciences and Technology (FUUAST), DHA -Suffa University and Pakistan Science Foundation.
The speakers emphasized that application of statistics in very important in policy development and monitoring of health, finance, and education and information technology. They observed that utilization of statistical research in medical education will not only help to improve overall health system but also leads country towards prosperity.
Vice Chancellor DUHS Prof Masood Hameed Khan underlined the need of adopting statistical research in birth, death and collection of data of diseases prevalence in order to control disease surge in the country as well as in other research activities.
He said that this conference has not only provide our students and researchers an opportunity to share their research projects, ideas and contributions to the public health research but also an excellent chance to develop a sense of community for benefiting from research experiences and expertise of researchers of the Islamic world.
He said students should prepare themselves to meet the challenges in research and statistical application posed by dramatically changing global environment.
More than 150 speakers from different countries like Nepal, Malaysia, China and Qatar attended the mega organized by DUHS.
