Five shops gutted in Rainbow Centre

KARACHI: A fire burned down five shops while three others were partially damaged on the first floor of the Rainbow Centre shopping centre in Saddar, here on Friday.

The Rainbow Centre is the biggest market of CDs and DVDs in Pakistan.

Five shops were completely burnt and three other shops were partially burnt as the fire broke out early in the morning due to short circuit and locks of the shops had to cut off to instantly smother the fire, fire brigade sources said.

Goods worth millions of rupees are stated to be burnt as the shops consisted of mostly plastic materials i.e., CDs.

Fire Brigade sent fire tenders after getting information to control the spreading fire that soon engulfed as many as five shops before it could be smothered after some struggle.
