HSSC exams: Cheating in full swing

KARACHI: Cheating in ongoing High Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) annual examinations is in full swing in majority of examination centers in Karachi, disclosed a number of students appearing in the examination at different centers on Thursday, while a lecturer on examination duty also confirmed it on the condition of anonymity.

They said that almost all students were using unfair means for solving papers while officials of examination centers were fully cooperating them in this regard. They said that they had not seen any vigilance team in last three days.

They said that they had not paid any bribe to officials for cheating and did know why they had been given free hand for cheating. They said that most of the students were cheating by themselves and copying the answers from books but some students also had help of cheating mafia who provided them solved papers.

The lecturers said that contrary to matriculation examination bribing matter is very less in HSSC examinations but political involvement is on its peak. He said that due to scare of political organizations, which are active in all colleges, the examination staff could not dare to stop any students from cheating.

He said that because of this worse situation, most of teachers hesitate to perform examination duty while some also sent any other person for performing the duty on their place.

It is pertinent to mention here that Sindh government had taken many steps including constituting vigilance teams to prevent cheating in HSSC examinations but these steps seemed totally ineffective.
