KCCI condemns attack on senior anchorperson

KARACHI: The leadership of Businessmen Group (BMG) and the office-bearers of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) have expressed deep concerns over attack on Hamid Mir, senior anchorperson of a private TV channel, by unknown armed men who ambushed Mir’s vehicle at Natha Khan Bridge in Karachi on Saturday.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Chairman of Businessmen Group and Former President KCCI, Siraj Kassam Teli, Vice Chairmen BMG, Tahir Khaliq, Zubair Motiwala, Haroon Farooki and Anjum Nisar, President KCCI Abdullah Zaki, Senior Vice President KCCI, Muffasar A. Malik, and Vice President KCCI, Muhammad Idrees expressed deep shock over the tragic incident in which Hamid Mir has received serious wounds and was rushed to a private hospital for medical assistance.

They, while praying for Hamid Mir’s early recovery, urged the relevant authorities to take strict action against culprits involved in this heinous act and ensure enhanced security to media personnel in order to avoid such incidents in future.
