KARACHI: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases (KIHD) has started free service to provide information to the patients visiting OPD about the prescribed medicines.
On the directives of Administrator Karachi Rauf Akhter Farooqui, Drug and Poison Information Center has started providing information about the prescribed medicines to the patients who visit OPD at KIHD, where trained pharmacists give complete information to the patients about the prescribed medicines after check up by doctors and also tell them how to use these medicines.
In case of medicines’ being expensive, which a patient could not buy, the pharmacist on duty in consultation with doctor prescribes an alternative medicine. A monthly follow-up call is also made in this service to the patients, in which a pharmacist inquires the patient about his health.
This is a unique kind of service in Pakistan which is not even available in big private hospitals, which is going to be started in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital soon.
