Man gets two-year jail term in weapons case


KARACHI: An Additional District & Sessions Court Central awarded two-year imprisonment with a fine of Rs 20,000 to accused, Amjad Hussain, in illegal weapons possession case.

The accused, Hussain, was found guilty of carrying weapons without license within the limits of New Karachi Industrial Area police station in 2014.

Judge Faiz Mohammad Bhatti pronounced the verdict after recording the evidences, statements of witnesses and hearing the arguments from both sides. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000. The convict will have to undergo an additional two-month imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine.

According to the prosecution, the accused was arrested on 11 February 2014 within the jurisdiction of New Karachi Industrial Area police station. The police claimed to have seized illegal weapons from the possession of the accused.
