KARACHI: Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali on Thursday attended a high level meeting on law and order situation in Sindh at Central Police Office (CPO) Karachi and reviewed the report of ongoing targeted operation in Karachi.
The report stated that till 7 July 2014, police arrested 1586 dacoits, 336 extortionists, 83 kidnappers, 7155 absconders, and 590 proclaimed offenders.
The report stated that in the last 10 months of ongoing targeted operation, 31336 criminals were arrested and 392 others killed in different police encounters.
“In the last 10 months of ongoing operation, police arrested 1026 killers, 264 criminals under Explosive Act, 5706 accused under Arms Act, 4663 drugs traffickers and 7908 other accused,” stated in report.
The report stated that three anti-tank mines, eight rockets with launchers, 577 kilogram explosive material, nine suicide jackets, 643 hand grenades, three LMGs, 186 Kalashnikovs, 7201 handguns, 116 rifles and 125 shotguns were also recovered from the possession of the arrested accused.
