KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Prisons and Anti-Corruption, Manzoor Hussain Wasan on Tuesday said that they would acquire expertise from security personnel to train jail staff.
Talking to media, Wasan said that Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur jails were sensitive and they had acquired modern weaponry and other equipments for the security personnel. He said that 400 more security men would be recruited to overcome shortage of jail staff.
He said that steps were taken to construct bomb-proof walls around the prisons. He said that they could not rule out transfer of dangerous prisoners from one jail to another and said that surveillance of all types of prisoners had been beefed up in jails.
He said that the current government would complete its tenure because the political forces had now understood that if one political force is thrown out then the other one could also not hold their position. “The democratic process has taken its path and it is very difficult to derail the current system,” he said adding that protests were part of the democracy and they should continue in the democratic periods.
He said that PPP supports democracy but it did not mean that they would not criticize a government that is unable to provide electricity, water and other basic necessities of life to the masses.
