KARACHI: The CT Scan Machine of Radiology Department Civil Hospital Karachi has been non-functional for the last one week, which have compelled patients to pay heavy fees in account of tests carried out by private healthcares.
Sources of Radiology Department CHK confirmed that the CT Scan machine was not functioning since one week that has compelled under treatment and visiting OPD patients of different wards to pay heavy fees in account of tests carried out by the private hospital in the city.
The private hospital carry out CT scan test with fees of Rs 2000 to 12000 per test and poor people could not afford the fees being charged by private hospitals.
The CT scan tests carried out by private hospital are putting more burdens on the pockets poor visiting patients. The large number of patients are being tested different brain tests everyday through this machine on cheaper rates are now facing great hardship and difficulties.
It was pertinent to mention here that Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine already non-functional several months and waiting for repair. However, due to the delay in repair patients are facing problems.
Medical Superintendent of CHK Prof Dr M Saeed Quraishi when contacted said only abdominal test was not carried out through CT Scan as fault had developed in its card. He, however, said other tests are continued as per routine.
