Prolonged load shedding irks citizens

Karachi: Up to sixteen hours a day electricity load shedding have irked the citizens of Sachal Goth, a densely populated locality of Gulshan e Iqbal Town Karachi, which has also resulted in acute shortage of water in the locality this hot summer.

The Karachi-Electric bosses for a month have been tormenting the residents of Sachal Goth, including women and children, for the reasons best known to them. The electricity supply of the locality is even stopped during the night hours depriving hundreds of thousands of people of sleep. Sleep deprivation is considered a very serious crime and grave violation of human rights, prohibited by all civilized countries.

The KE has also stopped the work of changing common electricity cables with new Kunda-proof cables, which was welcomed by the bill paying electricity consumers of the area, as these wires would help proper and justified billing by stopping electricity theft. It is learnt that some criminal elements and habitual electricity thieves are not happy with the new Kunda-proof wires. However, the KE should seek the help of police and rangers against these criminal elements and complete replacement of the old wires with new Kunda-proof cables.

The citizens have requested the KE administration to refrain from this prolonged load shedding, especially load shedding in night hours, to save women, children and elderly people from undue torments and troubles. They asked the KE to ensure provision of uninterrupted electricity supply to this populated residential locality.
