KARACHI: After joint communiqué of Administrator Karachi Rauf Akhtar Farooqui, Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and DIG Traffic the plan of rerouting public transport in Saddar area would be implemented from today (April 08).
The local authorities in collaboration with traffic police and Transport & Communication Department, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation have planned to revamp the Saddar area by taking management & administrative measures with the objectives to relieve traffic congestion in the whole area.
In the first phase of the project, the public transport routes were amended with effect from 8th April 2014. Various public transport routes including route number 1-D, 1-E, 1-L, 4-H, 11-C, 17-I, 19-D, 20, X-3, X-9, X-10, X-17, Z-2, U-1, H-2, Mashriq Coach, F-5, Y-2, 17, 17-H, 17-J, 17-K, 61-A, U, U-4, D-6, 9-C, D-3, 16, C-2, C-1, 2D, 2-K, 4-K, 4-L, 4-M, 5-C, 6, G-3, 9-A, D, Y, UTS-12, 44-A, 15-A, 1-C, X-2 have been amended according to the rerouting plan.
Farooqui has said to the business community, transporters and citizens to cooperate with the local authorities in the implementation of new traffic rerouting plan for Saddar area.
He said this project was aimed at bringing improvement in the overall traffic system in the Saddar area and to provide better facilities to people in the densely populated commercial hub of the city.
