KARACHI: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir Rao Anwar on Thursday claimed to have killed seven alleged suspected militants during a targeted search operation in Sohrab Goth and recovered weapons from their possession.
On a tip-off about suspected militants, SSP leading 500 security personnel conducted the search operation at Madina colony in Sohrab Goth. When the police entered the area, alleged terrorists opened fire on them. Police also retaliated the fire in which seven suspected militants, including banned outfit al-Qaeda’s local leader Parvez alias Paro, were killed. The police also claimed arresting their two injured accomplices during the operation.
Police said that they had also recovered weapons and explosive material from the possession of the criminals.
Police cordoned off the area soon after shootout. Bodied were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico-legal formalities.
Further investigation was underway, police said.
