Sharif’s Indian visit to ease tension: PPP senators

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senators on Monday termed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s participation in oath-taking ceremony of newly elected Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as good omen for both countries and said that this step would help ease tension between the two countries.

In a joint statement, PPP Senators Taj Haider, Saeed Ghani and Yousuf Baloch said that peace was necessary for the people of both nations.

They applauded Sharif’s goodwill gesture of releasing 151 Indian fishermen before his visit to India and said that it was good step which would help poor fishermen to reunite with their families.

They also demanded of Indian prime minister to release 218 Pakistani fishermen kept in Indian prisons so that they could also reunite with their families in Pakistan.
