SHC directs IGP to ensure impartial probe into Suleman Lashari murder case

KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday directed provincial police chief to ensure that probe into murder of ‘O’ Levels student Suleman Lashari is carried out in very transparent, impartial and legal manner.

Suleman was gunned down at his house in Defence Housing Authority on May 8. He was allegedly killed by the main accused in the case, Salman Abro, who is the son of a senior superintendent of police.

Father of victim, Sardar Ghulam Mustafa Lashari, approached the SHC, pleading before it to order suspension of Sakrand Police Training Centre SSP Ghulam Sarwar Abro, as he was influencing the investigation into the murder case.

Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, who headed a division bench, disposed of the petition when Ali Sher Jakhrani, AIG Legal, assured him that investigation into incident would be carried out in very transparent and impartial manner.

He stated that the murder case would be test case for police department and IGP Sindh would ensure that police officer probing case is not influenced from any one including the father of main accused.

After the AIG’s statement, the petitioner expressed satisfaction and requested the court to dispose of the petition.

Earlier counsel for petitioner, Muhammad Khan Buriro and Mubashir Ahmed Mirza, said that his son was killed by SSP’s son, Salman Abro, who broke into his house along with his police guards and killed his son with official weapons.

He alleged that his son was targeted at the stance of SSP and expressed serious apprehension that fair trial of the accused person could not be conducted if SSP is not put under suspension.
