KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday ordered the transfer of murder trial of Zeeshan, who was killed by Rangers personnel when he was in fight with his wife Shafiya at Nagan Chowrangi on February 28, from the court of Additional Sessions Judge -III to Sessions Judge Central, Karachi.
A division bench of SHC headed by Justice Sajjad Ali Shah announced its verdict on a petition filed by Tasneem, sister of Zeeshan, who moved the court seeking the arrest of a Rangers soldier and Shafiya, in the murder case.
The bench directed Sessions Judge Central to conduct the murder trial of Zeeshan under proper sections of law and decide the matter expeditiously.
The bench held cognizance of the case is to be taken by judicial magistrate after going through the entire material placed before it by Investigation officer, adding that since the learned magistrate was satisfied, hence he added section 302 (pre-meditated murder) of the PPC in the Charge-sheet.
The petitioner, Tasneem, submitted that Rangers personnel, Noor Rahim, and co-accused, Shafiya, were booked by New Karachi police in a case relating to murder of her brother, Zeeshan, but the police was reluctant to arrest them.
She submitted that an additional district and sessions court had also ordered the inclusion of Section 302 (pre-meditated murder) of the PPC, but none of the accused have been arrested yet.
