Karachi: Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ejaz Butt on Monday said that Pakistan cricket team has not been preparing well for the upcoming World Cup.
“Pakistan should take the tournament more seriously and prepare well for it,” Ejaz Butt told reporters.
He said that Pakistan will miss spin maestro Saeed Ajmal in World Cup after the bowler pulled out of the mega event. He has been banned from bowling after his bowling action was found to be illegal. Ajmal has been working to remodel his action but his progress was slow.
“The board should have devised a proper strategy to help Ajmal in lifting the ban from him. In spite of hiring a specialist for the job of remodeling his action, the board sorted a cheaper option by bringing in Saqlain Mushtaq. The lack of proactive approach has proved very costly for as we have lost Ajmal just before the World Cup,” he said.
