Karachi: Army has claimed the top position a day before the conclusion of the inaugural DG Rangers Sindh National Taekwondo Championship accumulating a total of 587 points here Monday at Rangers Training Centre and School.
Pakistan Rangers Sindh is organizing this championship in collaboration with Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF).
Fourteen teams from all over the country which includes the teams of the four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, FATA, Islamabad, AJK, the three services, Higher Education Commission and Pakistan Police are participating in the tournament.
On the fourth day of the championship on Monday, two more events were held. Najia Rasool won gold in heavy weight event while Faisal Imran women gold in fly weight event. Both players belonged to Army.
The two gold medals have helped Army retain its top position on Monday as well. Army has now accumulated a total of 23 gold, two silver and two bronze medals, which accrued to 587 points.
Army’s closest rival is HEC with a total of 206 points followed by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in third position with 154 points. The championship concludes on Tuesday.
