Sports: Tennis: Dawar cruises into tennis tourney quarters

Karachi: Dawar Rehan recorded a straight-set victory against Vinod Das and secured his place in the quarterfinals of 13th Westbury Open Ranking Tennis Championship here Tuesday at DA Creek Club.

After winning first set 6-4, Dawar was tested by stubborn Vinod in the second set, who took the game into tie-breaks. However, Dawar held his nerves and eventually record a 6-4, 7-6 (1) triumph.

Meanwhile, Rayyan Jawwad confirmed his place in Under 15 singles semifinals beating Mohammad Ahmed in quarterfinals by 7-6, 6-4 score.

Abdullah Khan defeated Ali Dada registering an immaculate 8-0 triumph in Under11 singles quarters to secure a berth in the event’s pre-finals.
