KARACHI: Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Traffic Karachi Muhammad Arif Hanif said on Monday that the traffic police were making efforts to keep the roads safe from accidents.
DIGP said that in this regard, traffic police had launched an awareness and education campaign across the city to apprise the citizens of road safety rules and protocols.
He said that people had encouraged the campaign and positive results were also seen on the roads. He said that traffic violations and accidents had also decreased in the city.
Hanif said that police was taking actions against violation of traffic rules continually. He said that police had challaned 494275 vehicles against violation of traffic rules from January to May 2013, and this year till May 2014, they had challaned 62494 vehicles.
DIGP ordered traffic police officials to take legal and stern actions against traffic violence and warned that no pressure in this regard would be tolerated any more.
