KARACHI: As many as 16,500 police personnel have been deployed for security of processions and other congregations of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him) in different zones while further 5000 cops deployed for security of the main procession, which will be taken out on Tuesday. This was mentioned in a report presented to Inspector General Police (IGP)Sindh on Sunday.
More than 290 small and big processions would be staged in all three zones of Karachi on 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal while more or less 390 congregations would also be held.
The report said that survey of houses, shops and other buildings located on sides of the route of main procession, main congregation and others gatherings has already been completed and details about people living there obtained.
IGP Shahid Nadeem was informed that in the view of proposals and decisions, discussed and taken out in meeting with relevant religious leaders, a proactive security contingency plan has been devised.
Under this plan, people would be allowed to participate in the main procession on MA Jinnah Road when they come via Bughdadi Crossing, Tower, DMC Signal, Eidgah Chowk, Saeed Manzil, Garden Road near Khandwala Building, OMI Hospital and Sea Braze routes.
Any kind of weapon including licensed arms will not be allowed in the procession. Women and children will not be allowed to participate in the procession.
Motorcycles, camel carts, donkey carts, horse carts, fork lifter, open trucks, buses, mini buses etc will also not be allowed on the route of the procession. Only the vehicles having stickers issued by the police will be allowed to be part of the procession.
