KARACHI:Administrator Karachi Rauf Akhtar Farooqui has said that completion of construction work of Thaddo Nullah Bridge was necessary before monsoon season otherwise the possibility of accumulation of rainwater on the road going from Model Colony to Superhighway would remain like past therefore this important project should be completed as soon as possible.
He said this while inspecting construction works of Thaddo Nullah Bridge. This project was being carried out with a cost of Rs120million.
On this occasion, Director General Engineering Department Niaz Ahmed Soomro, Project Director and other officers were also present. Administrator Karachi inquired about pace of construction works and issued necessary directives to officers.
He said that providing citizens with facilities was first priority of municipal departments therefore negligence could not be tolerated in this regard.
Completion of Thaddo Nullah Bridge would provide another alternative route for traffic going from Jinnah Avenue to Superhighway and citizens would be facilitated.
On this occasion Administrator Karachi in a briefing was informed that construction work of Thaddo Nullah Bridge was in final stage which would be completed soon. This bridge has 375meter length along with 110meter structure. Ramps of 145meter and 120meter have been constructed and 11 spans were kept.
It has been considered in the design of the bridge that the towers which were constructed for checking drinking water coming from Dumloti would not be affected and this project would prove stable which could benefit citizens for a long time.
Administrator Karachi said that construction works of bridges, flyovers and underpasses in the city should be completed speedily as these projects hold much importance for citizens.
He directed that along with completion of the project, excellent quality material should also be ensured in construction works.
He said that construction of the bridge here was an old demand of the people. KMC commenced construction of the bridge and efforts were being made to complete this project as soon as possible.
