KARACHI: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Patron-In-Chief, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), has congratulated the newly-elected office-bearers of Karachi Press Club with the hope that they will ensure freedom of press & freedom of expression besides working for the welfare of journalists community.
In a statement on Thursday, the PPP Patron-In-Chief said Karachi
Press Club is the largest, oldest and historic institution of media persons in Pakistan.
He appreciated the role of Karachi Press Club during the nation’s struggle for restoration of democracy against ruthless dictatorial regimes in the past. PPP had always been part and parcel of every struggle of journalists in Pakistan, he said.
Bilawal said PPP is the pioneer of press freedoms in Pakistan and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had abolished the draconian laws against the press freedoms when she was elected Prime Minister first time. He assured the elected office-bearers and members of Karachi Press Club of providing full support on behalf of his party for upholding the torch of freedom of press and rights of the working journalists.
