KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday gave last chance to Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) for conducting an investigation into kidnapping case of two Hindu women and two children, who went missing in 2011, and submit report in this regard.

A division bench headed by Justice Ghulam Sarwar Korai was seized with the hearing of petition filed by Bhoori Bai belonging to Hindu community, who moved the court for seeking whereabouts of her missing two daughters and two grandchildren.

The petitioner, Bhoori Bai, resident of Bahadurabad, represented by counsel Mirza Shehryar submitted that her daughters Gita Kumari and Janta Kumari, wife of Devan Kumar, with her two children Sania, aged five, and son Bhavaish, aged 3, left home for shopping on 2 September 2011 but still not returned home.

She told the court that since then their whereabouts were unknown to her family. The petitioner said that she had contacted all her relatives but there is no clue to them. The victim woman said that she approached New Town police station but they did not lodge any case regarding kidnapping of her children.

The woman petitioner said that later she had received a message from kidnappers on her mobile, who demanded ransom for release of her children, and subsequently, she approached Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) but they did not help her in tracing mobile phone number and captors in the pretext that they had no technical system to locate the place mobile phone number.

She lamented that owing to disappearance of her children and indifferent attitude of police officials, her family was suffering from agony and had plunged into despondency. She pleaded the court to direct police officials to produce her children in the court.

Inspector Khan Tariq of AVCC appeared in the court and stated that he was recently handed over the investigation into kidnapping case, hence, he requested the court to allow some time to complete it.

The bench allowed time as last chance to complete investigation into kidnapping case and adjourned the hearing of the case to a date to be fixed later by the court office.
