Karachi: Provincail Disaster Management Authority Sindh in a release Saturday said apart from relief efforts by the Relief Department / SMBR and other concerned administrative departments, the Rehabilitation Department and its attached authority PDMA Sindh has actively started the rehabilitation activities in the drought affected areas of Tharparkar district.
In this regard Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah chaired a meeting attended by Secretary Rehabilitation and Director General PDMA Sindh. He was briefed on the rehabilitation activities being undertaken. He directed the officers to take effective measures and reach out the genuine affectees besides planning a medium term strategy to combat drought effects for saving human lives and the livestock in the area.
Chief Minister also informed about the coordination with International NGOs and local CSOs to provide relief to the people. Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) and Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) have also started dispatching the relief goods containing high-nutrition food items to Tharparkar in coordination with PDMA. World Food Program (WFP) has also started Need Assessment study in the area.
