Inflation-unemployment seen fed govt’s real performance

KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Works and Services Syed Zia Abbas Shah said Sunday that poor performance cannot be hidden from the public by making statements in media against opposition members.

Inflation, unemployment and economic stagnation are the real three-year performance of the federal government, he said in a statement. Shah said that today, the people were being crushed in the mill of inflation. He said: “The prices of petroleum products are being increased several times in a month, which is increasing the prices of all other food items.”

The minister said that due to the worst economic policy, people belonging to the business and agricultural classes, were being severely affected while those belonging to the working class were facing the worst storm of inflation.

Shah further said that the prices of medicines, including basic daily necessities, had gone up by hundreds of rupees. He further said that according to various surveys conducted nationally and internationally, the people had been forced to live below the poverty line in those three years of government while no worthwhile project had been launched for education and health.

The Benazir Income Support Program had been renamed and people were being laid off from the jobs provided during the PPP regime, he added. The minister said that the people would defeat those selected people in the next elections. He said that the Sindh government under the leadership of Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had taken practical steps to provide education, health and employment to the people.

“In Sindh too, people from all over the country are benefiting from modern facilities of free treatment. PPP has always given top priority to serving the people. The PP is the only party which is fully capable to overcome the economic and other crises facing the country,” the minister concluded.
