Lyari violence claims five more lives


KARACHI: Five more people, including a mother and her son, were killed and two others injured during ongoing violence in Lyari, here on Wednesday, said SP Lyari office.

Ms Ruqaya Mukhtar, 35, her son Madad Ali, 12 and their three-year-old relative Tabasum, daughter of Najeeb Ali, were killed in a grenade attack near Jhoona mosque within the limits of Baghdadi police station.

Two other persons, 35-year-old Gul Muhammad, son of Jumma Gul, and 18-year-old Waqar Ahmad, son of Aqeel, were shot at and injured in different areas of the same police station.

Separately, a 50-year-old Saleh Muhammad, son of Muhammad Yousuf, was gunned down by unknown men in Aslam Manzal area near Gul Balochistan Hotel within the limits of Kalakot police station.

Moreover, a young man aged around 25 was shot dead in Jatt Market area within the limits of Chakiwara police station. The identity of the victim could not be ascertained till filing this news.
