KARACHI: Police have arrested 56023 accused during last eleven months, said the retiring IGP Sindh Shahid Nadeem Baloch on Thursday.
Addressing a farewell ceremony in his honour, he said that coping with terrorism is only possible when we discharge our duties properly, and in this context there is a need that police use all available resources to safeguard life and property of citizens.
On the occasion the performance of Sindh police was discussed from March 23, 2013 to 18th February 2014.
According to the report during this period the police conducted 2768 raids in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur and Mirpur Khas and arrested 56023 criminals including 36110 absconders. Sindh police also busted 951 criminal gangs.
According to the report police recovered 10740 different types of weapons, 12 suicide jackets, 33 bombs, 429 hand grenades, 55 detonators and 1358 kilograms explosives.
