KARACHI: PSQCA Team under the supervision of Media Advisor of PSQCA Abdul Waheed Memon and Syed Anwar Iqbal, Deputy Director (CC Karachi) raided Sunday Bachat Bazaar, Block 8, DHA, Khayaban-e-Ittehad, Karachi, along with electronic, print media and representative of Helpline Trust, Karachi, to make better implementation of quality standards and to protect the health & safety of the consumers of Pakistan.
The raid was also aimed at improving services of PSQCA and make it more effective. As per directives of Federal Minister for Science and Technology and Director General PSQCA , those products that are on the PSQCA compulsory items list must not be allowed in the market unless there are registered and approved by PSQCA with a valid license.
On arrival at Sunday Bachat Bazar, team members checked different brands of various mandatory food items. They collected the open market samples of different brands of Cooking Oil, Banaspati, Canola Oil, Beverages, Bottled Drinking Water and Black Tea.
These samples are collected for monitoring quality assurance of the PSQCA licences. The food item samples of beverages, bottled drinking water and black tea are under testing and results are awaited. If the samples found non-conforming as per relevant Pakistan Standard Specifications the action will be taken as per PSQCA Act-VI of 1996.
