KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday summoned chief engineers of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB), and other official engineers for blocking storm-water drain for construction of flyover at Shahrah-e-Faisal along Gora Qabrustan.
A division bench headed by Chief Justice Maqbool Baqar was seized with the hearing of a petition filed by Farhat Agha against blocking of storm-water drain.
The bench had ordered the city government authorities at the time of FTC building construction near Gora Qabrustan that water drain passing through the construction of building should be shifted to any appropriate place at the cost of owners and storm-water drain providing drainage lines to Gulshan-e- Zahoor be diverted such way that flow of the sewerage is not affected.
During the hearing, the bench observed that storm-water drain was not constructed as ordered and instead a joint report was submitted by chief engineers of KMC and KWSB respectively stating that drain was blocked because it was of no use and its portion was in fact consumed in the construction of flyover at Gora Qabrustan.
