Labour unions take out anti-privatization rally

KARACHI: Labour unions of Pakistan International Airlines, NLF, Pakistan Steel Mills and Pakistan Railways took out an anti-privatization rally from City Station to Shaheen Complex.

Central President of NLF Union Shams-ur-Rehman Swati, General Secretary, Sindh Nizamuddin Shah, Khalid Khan, the leaders of PIA Action Committee Shaukat Jamshed, Saleem Multani, Najeeb-ur-Rehman, leaders of PSM Action Committee Alamdar Raza, Ahsan-ul-Haq, President of KPT Labour Union Lala Nazeer, Ubaidullah, Zafar Khan, Khair Muhammad Tunio, Abdul Salam, Raja Abdul Mannan and a large number of labours attended the rally.

On the occasion, the protestors were chanting slogans against the privatization of national institution and also raised placards and banners inscribed with the slogans against corruption and privatization of national institution. Speaking at a rally, the leaders of different labour unions said that they do not allow anyone to privatize the national institutions.

They further said that the government instead of giving national institutions into private control, just to eliminate corruption from the national institutions and appoint competent and honest officials on key posts in the national institutions.

They further warned the government if it will not take their protest serious and not taking any step in this regard, then they will free to take any step in order to stop the privatization of the national institutions. On the occasion, they informed that their next protest rally against privatization of the national institution would be held on 12 September in Lahore.
