LAHORE: Ameer, Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan, Sirajul Haq, has resigned from the office of Senior Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government because of his preoccupations as JI chief.
He tendered his resignation through a letter addressed to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak on Wednesday. In his letter, Haq said that after assuming office as Finance Minister in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the second time, he had tried his best to advance the common agenda of the coalition government in the province.
During this period, he had introduced reforms in the finance department and set up an ideal financial discipline, due to which the debt of the provincial government had come down.
He said that after May 13 elections, he had presented two budgets and the national and international media had appreciated his priorities and financial discipline while the federal government gave cash bonus of Rs 1.5 billion because of best financial management.
He said that he had tried his best for the rights of the province but the federal government had completely ignored his proposals in this regard.
He said that he could not continue as provincial minister due to his responsibilities as Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami, and had therefore decided to resign.
