LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, (LCCI) and the Lahore Bar Association (LBA) on Monday decided to jointly raise voice on all national issues. A 15-member LBA delegation led by its President Chaudhry Muhammad Ishtiaq called on LCCI President Engineer Sohail Lashari. LCCI Vice President Kashif Anwar and former EC member Amjad Chaudhry were also present in the meeting which continued for well over an hour.
Both the sides also agreed to appoint focal persons in their respective organizations to further expedite their liaison on day-to-day issues.
There was a consensus that things were fast getting out of hand and if collective wisdom was not applied, all the corrective measures on the part of the government would remain unfruitful. The LCCI President Engineer Sohail Lashari said that the all the institutions should be on same page to get resolved the challenges being faced by the country. He said that the government alone could never put economy back on rails and we all would have to play our role proactively to achieve the goal of progress and prosperity.
The LCCI President urged the Lahore Bar President to motivate bar Associations of the other provinces including Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhawa to pave way for early construction of Kalabagh Dam that is lifeline for our future generations. The LCCI President said that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry was making every possible effort to bring all public and private sector institutions close to each other. The President of the LBA Chaudhry Muhammad Ishtiaq, on the occasion, requested the LCCI President to form new committee comprising members of the Lahore Bar Association for the early resolution of all the legal issues.
He said that the Lahore Bar Association would work hand-in-hand with the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the betterment of the society in general and the business community in particular. The delegation comprises: Senior Vice President of LBA Ghulam Abbas Sahir Awan, General Secretary Ch Saleem Ladhi, Secretary Ch. Qasem Aslam Hinjara, Joint Secretary Tahir Riaz Sulehri, Finance Secretary Peer Farid ul Haq Chishti, Library Secretary Rashid Nazir, Auditor Inam ul Haq Pasha, EC members Ch. Naik Muhammad, Malik Muhammad Imran,
Zahida Sadiq, Idress Aslam and Miss Tehseen Zehra Karim and Zulfiqar Ahmad Khan.
