KARACHI: Legal fraternity of Karachi on Monday observed a complete boycott of legal proceedings in Sindh High Court (SHC) and in subordinate courts in the city to protest against the targeted killing of senior advocate Naimat Ali Randhawa, a former public prosecutor of Anti-Terrorism Court and leader of PML-N Sindh’s lawyer wing
Naimat Ali Randhawa was shot dead in a targeted attack in Nazimabad area of Karachi on Thursday. Following the killing of senior advocate, Sindh Bar Council announced province-wide boycott of the legal proceedings.
Sindh High Court and lower courts wore a deserted look as lawyers stayed away from court rooms and did pursue the case. Due to boycott hundreds of the cases fixed for the hearing could not be taken up and litigants, who had come to pursue the cases, had to face problems and leave for home without getting justice.
Sindh High Court Bar Association president Mustafa Lakhani, Sindh Bar Council vice president Muhammad Aqil, Karachi Bar Associations president Naeem Qureshi and other lawyers condemned the targeted killing of senior lawyer in strongest terms.
Meanwhile, SHC Bar Association’s general body will be held under chairmanship of its President Mustafa Lakhani on Monday to condole the incident.
