Madadgaar launches National Helpline Number ‘1098’

Karachi: Madadgaar National Helpline on Wednesday launched four digit unified code ‘1098’ in collaboration with Ministry of Human Rights in order to provide proper and immediate legal aid and protection to the victims.

The launching ceremony of Madadgaar National Helpline Number 1098 was held at local hotel. President Madadgaar Helpline Zia Ahmed Awan, Founder of CPLC Yousuf Jamil, PTI MPA Syed Hafeezuddin, Imran Shami and DIG South Abdul Khaliq were also present on this occasion. The large number of representatives of civil society, police, lawyers, FIA, health, nurses and media men attended the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Provincial Minister for Women Development, Special Education and Social Welfare Rubina Saadat Qaimkhani said women and children are most neglected segments of the society. She said previous governments had ignored the women and children rights, but now his ministry was making efforts to control the violence in society against these two segments of the country.

She stressed the importance of establishment of Madadgaar Helpline Offices at district level in order to eliminate violence against women and children. She recommended for separate ministry for children to resolve their problems.

PTI MPA Syed Hafizuddin said unfortunately our society is going towards further destruction rather than going to advancement. He said elimination of social evils from society is necessary for the prosperity of Pakistan.

Zia Ahmed Awan said violation and discrimination against women and children was increasing day by day in Pakistan and Madadgaar Helpline was in a state of war against social evils of the society. He said helpline number 1098 had got recognition at national level.

He said provision of immediate legal help and protection to the victims at national level was the need of the hour. He said Madadgaar Helpline had maintained its position at national level and established its offices in the capital in all provinces in Pakistan in order to provide help to people at their door steps.
