Karachi: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday confirmed the interim bail granted to forwarding and clearing agents in different references filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) regarding missing containers’ scam.
A division bench of SHC headed by Justice Ghulam Sarwar Korai confirmed the interim bails of clearing and forwarding agents.
ISAF-NATO container scam involved the issue of missing containers that were meant for international forces in Afghanistan under the Afghan Transit Trade agreement, which caused huge loss in evasions and pilferage of duties. It was reported that a number of consignments have not reached the destination.
The Supreme Court had taken suo moto notice of reports on the missing containers meant to supply logistics to the Isaf-Nato forces fighting in Afghanistan. The apex court had ordered Nab to investigate the scam.
Over 100 bail applications were filed by clearing and forwarding agents, who approached the courts seeking bail in the missing containers scam and pleading not guilty.
