For any negligence medical practicing licenses of doctors will be cancelled, Shahram Tarakai

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister for Health, Shahram Khan Tarakai has made it clear that medical practicing  licenses of doctors found negligence of their duties will be cancelled instead of their suspension for a limited time period adding that there is no room of mistake or negligence for medical practitioners as a minor mistake or negligence on their part could result in the loss of a precious human life.

He was addressing the teaching staff, professors and heads of different department of Lady Reading hospitals Peshawar here on Wednesday. He said that as minister en-charge his soul aim was to improve the overall health care service delivery system of government hospitals to ensure improved health facilities to the public and better patients’ care in those hospitals, and the same he has accepted as a challenge.

He urged upon the senior doctors to play their vital role in changing the existing health care delivery system in hospitals and put their hands together with the government in its efforts to ensure better health services to the poor masses. He asked them to come up with their expert views and suggestions to remove the laxities and deficiencies in the existing system of hospitals.

The provincial minister deplored that despite the repeated instructions of the government, dress code was not followed by doctors in hospitals which the only differentiating factor between the doctors and patients in hospitals.

He directed the heads of units and professors of department to ensure adherence to  dress code, discipline and professional ethics by their subordinates in their respective units and departments. “ doctor community is  the most respectable segment of society and the government will not only give them respect but will solve all their problems as well and in return will expect only  better performance from them” ; maintained the senior minister.

Speaking on this occasion secretary health, Dr. Aftab Durrani revealed that as per policy guidelines of the present provincial  government, the Autonomy Act was being amended to give more and more financial and administrative autonomy to the tertiary care hospitals of the province so that their overall performance could be improved up to the expectations of the messes. Chief Executive, Medical superintendent and other management high ups of the hospital were also present on the occasion.
