Imran inaugurates first ever mineral policy of KP


Peshawar: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has congratulated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for announcing country’s first ever mineral policy. He said that the policy will enhance the mining industry in province and will attract foreign investors.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of KP’s Mineral policy here at Islamabad he said that the policy is the part of PTI’s major plan of development in the province. The main objectives of the policy, according to him are to protect local community, develop mineral industry, guard the environment and subsequently explore new avenues to development and prosperity.

Environment, he said has been given immense importance in the policy and the provincial government has a plan to plant 1billion trees in the next 5 years in the province and increase the number of national parks under this very policy.

“International investors drew our attention to the need to chalk out a comprehensive and viable plane of action to develop mineral infrastructure, attract overseas investments, explore the potential markets and provide ample guidelines to the labor and local community associated with the very sector of minerals” he said adding that special measures have been proposed to protect and safeguard the interest of local community in this proposed plan of action.

He further stated that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s provincial government is providing conducive and favorable environment for the investors in this sector. He also said that special investments from Italy are due for mining of the marble in the province.

Commending the provincial government’s fiscal focus on human recourse development in the province, Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf has said that KP government deserve all appreciation and acknowledgment  for allocating more resource for promoting education and health in the province.

“Less money spent on human resource during last so many decades has actually pushed the nation into a disastrous circumstances”, according to him and “therefore our government in the province is focusing more to spend on its people”, he added.

CM KPK Pervaz Khattak also spoke on the occasion. Speaker KP Assembly Asad Qaiser, Vice Chairman PTI Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Central Secretary Information Dr. Shireen Mazari, Central Additional Secretary General Saifullah Khan Nyazee, PTI MPs, foreign envoys and investors attended the ceremony.
