Rehabilitation of FDMA will start from Wednesday, FDMA chief

Peshawar: Director General of Fata Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) Arshad Khan has said that FDMA would start rehabilitation process of 7706 internally displaced persons of Bagh Maidan area of Tirah Valley from Wednesday.

Speaking at a news conference here on Monday, he said some 3, 42000 people of Khyber Agency were displaced however 1, 65000 IDPs of them rehabilitated whereas the remaining home gradually.

Out of 7706, he said 4246 belonged to Shalobar Qambar Khel, 888 to Malik Din Khel, 1464 to Bar Qambar Khel, 571 to Adam Khan, 116 to Qamar Khel, 267 to Zalja Lje;, three families to Koki Khel, two families to Sipah, five to Omar Khan Khel, 144 to other sub-tribes.

The process of rehabilitation, he said would be completed in two weeks. The spots Jarma of Kohat, New Durrani Camp (Kuram Agency), Jalozai camp and Peshawar are the places from where IDPSs would get free of cost transport facilities include,

He said the for six months people would be provided ration on their return they would get non-food items and shelter kits. The IDPs, he said are supposed to return earlier but rains and dilapidated roads were the main hurdles.

Similarly, in addition the government would also pay Rs25000 to each family after disaster assessment. He said the remaining IDPs would also return to their homes till July 2014 as the situation improved.

He said during war on terror 13000 houses were damaged which would be rebuilt and repair with the help of donors, he said. The people of Bajaur and Mohmand Agency, he said would also get house subsidy.

The FDMA chief said with the help of donor agency that a basic health unit would be established to facilitate the people.

On May briefing will be given to Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif about the situation in Fata while governor KPK would also be apprised of the situation during the briefing.

He said that local people would have liaison with the law enforcement agencies and political administration to maintain the law and order. He said the concerned officials and Levy Force would fully facilitate the people in case of any problem to them.
