Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Health, Shaukat Ali Yousafzai has given strict orders to take immediate action against illegal laboratories and paramedical institutes operating in the province, while explanation has also been called from the Secretary Medical Faculty for unnecessary delay in the examination results of paramedical students.
Talking to different delegations at his office, Civil Secretariat Peshawar, the Health Minister said that no-one would be allowed to play with human lives in future, directing that all laboratories without pathologists and trained staff should be sealed immediately. He directed the Health Regulatory Authority to initiate crackdown against illegal laboratories and institutes.
He expressed his grief over unnecessary delay of examination results of paramedical students by medical faculty and said that by doing so, the precious time of the students had been wasted. He also asked Director General Health to take prompt action in the matter and directed students to register their complaints in his office.
The Minister Health categorically said that corruption and incompetency would not be tolerated. He asked the concerned authorities to rectify air-conditioned system of LRH, KTH, HMC and ATH so that patients could not suffer in upcoming summer season and introduce MR system for safety of patients record in Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar, while it should also be extended to all other hospitals across the province in future.
Later talking to a delegation of students from Psychology Department, Islamia College University, he said the provincial government was giving special attention to terrorism hit areas, as it had badly affected the minds of people. He said concrete measures had been taken to prevent mental and psychological diseases. He said, well trained clinical psychologists would be hired and psychiatric hospitals would be upgraded as per requirements. Madiha Asghar informed Shaukat Yousafzai about their problems while Minister Health promised his full cooperation to address it.
