Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government has expedited work on Green and Clean Peshawar whereas new schemes and residential areas are included in the ongoing beautification plan following the directives of the Chief Minister, Pervez Khattak Gulshan-e-Rahman Colony has also been made part of the plan wherein a rehabilitation project for this main government residential colony worth over Rs. 65 million has been launched that included Rs. 70 Lakh for construction and expansion of internal roads, Rs. 98 lakh for new sewerage line, Rs. 60 Lakh for construction of footpaths and green belts along roads and streets and Rs. 43 lakh for repair and beautification of government residences and quarters.
It is pertinent to mention here that Secretary Communication and works Ahmad Hanif Orakzai, during his visit of Gulshan-e- Rahman Colony, a few months back expressed dissention over the bad condition of roads and sanitation system in the colony.
He had directed the authorities concerned including Provincial Building Maintenance Cell (PBMC) to immediately prepare a scheme to improve the infrastructure in the colony that was followed in letter and spirit and a rehabilitation project was launched in GRC on emergency basis. After completion of this development scheme, the colony will also give a good look of developed residential area of the provincial metropolis.
Meanwhile PBMC has clarified that the contract of this rehabilitation scheme has awarded to a construction firm under the new transparent system of E- tendering. Wherein all works and tasks were been carried out in systematic and scientific manner.
The internal roads are being carpeted after undergoing all processes of lying shingles, compactions and shouldering. Whereas work on construction of footpaths and sewerage line will also continue simultaneously.
Similarly the repair works and installation of lighting system, ceiling fans, greasers and other equipment are also being continued as per set policy under supervision of responsible officials. PBMC, however, appealed the inhabitants and occupants of the government residencies and quarters to cooperate with concerned department for ensuring cleanliness and hygiene condition in the colony.
